German IT services provider GFT is about to add 40 software professionals to its operations in Costa Rica.
GFT’s Costa Rican workforce grew by 49% in 2021 compared to the previous year, according to a statement from CINDE, Costa Rica’s investment promotion agency.
GFT, based in Stuttgart, Germany, came to Costa Rica in 2013, but it’s unclear how many people it has employed in the Central American country.
“Costa Rica’s role in GFT’s strategy has grown significantly in recent years, as they now not only serve international markets, but also bring digital transformation expertise to the regional market and local customers,” said said Fabián Salazar, General Manager of GFT Costa Rica.
The German company is very present elsewhere in Latin America, particularly in Brazil. Its regional clients include HSBC, Deutsche Bank and Santander, in addition to some of Brazil’s largest commercial and investment banks.
Most of its customers are banks or financial services companies because GFT’s ambition has long been to become “the digital reference for financial services”.
In recent years, the company has focused on web and cloud development as well as data science, business intelligence and DevOps.
