Night vehicle restriction will be until minors are vaccinated and adults with the third dose

QCOSTARICA – The restriction of night vehicles would be maintained for several more months, since the government of Carlos Alvarado will not eliminate it until it is possible to move forward with the vaccination of under-18s and the strengthening of the third dose to the elderly population.

Maintaining the measure is for “caution and prevention,” said Victoria Hernández

This was confirmed by Victoria Hernández, Minister of Economy, Industry and Trade at

“This has been discussed, yes of course it has been discussed (removing the nighttime restriction), what is happening is what we need is to ensure the full health of the under 18s. years, remember that we are at this stage, strengthening the elderly (with third doses), because we have a significant part of the population, more than 300,000 people who have not been vaccinated, this is the problem, ”said the minister.

Due to pressure from various sectors, this week the government eased vehicular restrictions, on Monday, December 20, restrictions will start at 12 p.m., not 11 p.m.

Hernández added that the technical team analyzing the measurements believe that caution should also be exercised with the imminent arrival in the country of the omicron variant.

“The new vehicle restriction measure, extending the operation of commerce and services by one hour, is due to this gradual increase in flexibility,” Hernández said.
