All fares in this branded flight group apply to the basic economy option only. In this case, the base economy for Alaska is the airline Saver option and does not include seat selection. Passengers traveling on the Saver fare also cannot change their flights and are the last to board. So you may also experience a lack of space in the overhead compartment for your hand luggage if your flight is full.

Despite these restrictions, this price for a trip to San Jose is considered low, according to Google Flights; normally, the cheapest flights to the Costa Rican capital range from $930 to $2,050.

While some airlines’ basic economy fares still allow you to select a seat on the aircraft for an additional fee, Alaska does not allow its Saver customers to select a seat in the main cabin portion of the aircraft.
