US sanctions Ortega-Murillo regime mining company

The United States has sanctioned Nicaraguan state-owned mining company ENIMINAS and its chairman of the board for their growing ties with Russia.

The decree of June 17 from the US department of the Treasuryit is Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) prohibits any dealings by U.S. assets with the company and the chairman of its board of directors directors,Ruy Delgado LopezSo undermineing a die main sources of income of the Ortega-Murillo regime.

According to from Nicaragua Official Gazette, Russian Troops participate in humanitarian assistance, military exercises and operations against illicit activities on the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean.

“While the Ortega-Murillo regime increasingly engaging Russia and continuing to fill its coffers with large revenues exploited by the Nicaraguan gold sector, the regime has turned its back on the Nicaraguan people, neglecting their livelihoods for regime gainssaid U.S. Treasury Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson.

To Ruizin the opinion of the public, more actions against the dictatorship should be considered, so that all the support that has been maintained based on political influence, lack of transparency, illegitimacy, and state corruption,t contribute to maintaining ee regime economically. Further actions are required to continue at offensive the economic pillars that the dictatorship has in the country.
